Hello Jenna,
I also posted this same story. It is really strange and unbelievable that this book was banned and put on the controversial list. It seems like such a sweet simple story, but unfortunately due to the time of its publishing people with prejudices against the color of the rabbit's fur (or the color of people's skin) did not approve because two different colored rabbits get married in the story. That is just outrageous! They are rabbits for goodness sake. I do know that during these times some states still had laws against interracial marriages, but what does that have to do with a children's book? I mean there were animals that were not the same color and live peacefully and segregated in the wild.
